Our History

The Temiskaming Development Fund was established on April 4, 1990, through a partnership between Dofasco Inc., Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and the Temiskaming Development Fund Corporation.

This initiative was created to foster business diversification and growth in the Temiskaming region, following the economic challenges caused by the closure of the Sherman and Adams mines. Backed by a generous $4 million donation from Dofasco and Cliffs of Canada, the fund serves as an incentive loan program, providing vital financial support to stimulate new opportunities and mitigate job losses in the area.
